And the story begins, 'twas just the wind. She says as her baby cries, wiping the tears from the two year old's eyes. Once upon a time on a day so bare, a woman sat down with her baby so fair. The woman rocked the child 'til dreams filled her mind, and as the child slept, a witch wanted, the baby, to find. The mother, though, knew the witch so well, It was her own mother, though no one could tell. The baby no harm ever came too, Because the witch watched as her grandbaby grew. The mother sat calmly in her old chair, watching the little child who was so fair. The mother knew the witch, but not her own mother, She knew one, but not the other. Until one day when the witch was passing through, and trouble the little child drew. For up her innocent sleeve she had powers untold, and someday soon her powers would unfold. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

The witch couldn�t rescue the child when demons came, The child, though, demons she did tame. The witch watched her fly off the cliff, Praying to the Lord, "Only If" If she knew what were to become of her, Since, to the old woman she was only a blur. But the little child flew, Up to the witch who said, "When did you find you knew?" "The day you passed me on the hill, Up the river, by the mill. "You smiled and said, �One Day� And I knew right away. "You were the old witch to which mother warned, �Never talk to her, many she has mourned.� "I knew those words that came from your tongue, For on my ears they had forever hung. "One day I realized what you had meant, But you do know what I forever can�t. "So, please, dear grandmother, teach me. In your ways I wish the world to see." | |||||||||||||||||||||||

And that�s all the little girl had to say, | On that most beautiful of days. She grew to know her powers as well as the witch; so called. And never once did she not know all. That�s where my story ends, To your mind it I send. "Where did you hear that story�" A voice behind her begins, She replies, "�Twas just the wind."
